5 Little Weeks To Sanity! Are You Extroverted Or Introverted?

Are you introverted—you get fueled by alone time—or extroverted—you can fueled by time with people? I'm extremely introverted. I love people. I just get tired after a lot of time with a lot of people. So, I schedule very few meetings or lunches and when I do I cluster them so they are all in one day. I find that I can handle a day of extroversion if the next day is more balanced with some time alone. And at least once a month, I take an extended day of prayer to be alone with my Lord usually out in the woods somewhere. This fills me up. I'm a complete introvert. I've learned to lean into that tendency. Have you?
So many mistakenly think that they don't like their career or life calling when in fact, they just need to manage their extrovert/introvert tendency more carefully. If you're a new mom, for example, you'll enjoy it far more as an extrovert if you pack up that diaper bag and head out most days for play groups and lunches in the park. If you're an introvert, you may need to schedule an hour of dad duty each night so you can hide in a bubble bath to get alone.
Schedule the next seven days of your life based on your tendency to be introverted or extroverted. Try this little change before you make any huge changes in your life and you will find a great little power source within yourself.

In honor of my new release, "Five Little Questions That Reveal The Life God Designed For You," I'm going to write a five week blog series on how to stay sane. Each week I'll offer one very specific tip to get out of the rat race freeing you to enter God's race for greatness. Just apply the tip and watch your life get easier. I promise!

Next week's tip: How to manage your email so it doesn't manage you!

What a great challenge! I can't wait. I am an introvert. Nothing fuels me up like time all by my lonesome. Which is bizzare since I was voted most outgoing in my high school class. Most people would peg me as an extereme extrovert.

I have scheduled alone time in my days according to your challenge. I will let you know how it goes!

My problem is that I schedule time alone -- usually with God -- but I get distracted by outside things. Your challenge sounds like it might be good for me.

I have just recently started thinking about whether I am an introvert or an extrovert. My conclusion is that I am a little of both, but that I get more fueled up and fired up for God when I spend time alone. I am excited to see where God will take me in the coming days as I schedule time to be alone to commune with Him.

Hi Amber:

I'm a little of both, too. (Although more introverted.) Balance is the key for you. And it's hard! You never know what you're going to need. But that will keep you in closer communion with our Lord. As you obey him, he'll keep it all in balance!
