Hi!
I am new to Secret Keeper Girl - in fact I am currently doing the Secret Keeper Girl Diary with my 9 year old.
I am stuck on a location site for Date 3 - The Quiet Encounter with God.
I live in KC, Missouri - no where close to the Mountains, Beach - and my daughter doesn't like bugs, humidity and all the great things Missouri offers in July/August.
Does anyone have any suggestions for this quiet time and date challenge?
Thank you!
Hello!
So excited that you're doing SKG with your daughter! I'm sure you're having a blast.
Stuck on the location for date 3?
What about taking her to a beautiful church around your area and sitting in the sanctuary where you can lay out the SKG challenge to her and she can spend time journaling and talking to God.
Or take her out at night time to a place where the stars light up the sky. I'm always in awe of God's glorious creation. (Spray yourselves down with bugspray and you should be set!).
Hope this helps!
Hi! I am a Missouri mom myself and you're right, the humidity and misquitos don't lend themselves to great outdoor experiances this time of year. But there are loads of beautiful places in Missouri and tons of places to experiance God's creation right there in KC! What about the Powell Botanical Gardens? You and your daughter can experiance all of God's wonder with the addition of sidewalks! Or the KC zoo? If you feel like a road trip, the botanical gardens and zoo in St. Louis are breathtaking and the car time would be so good for bonding with your girl!
I know I sound a bit like a travel brochure, but there are tons of places here in Missouri to spend time with your daughter, experiance God's creation and avoid summer pests.
I would love to hear how it goes!
Jenn & Erin...those are great ideas!
Lexi and I went for a canoe ride in a Pennsylvania lake. It was amazing. Cool and refreshing since it was summer. (Bug spray kept the bugs at bay.) When I used to live in Missouri, we enjoyed "floating" a lot and since the creeks and rivers are between bluffs, it's very, very cool even in August!
I know the Lord will give you the perfect idea to help your precious one connect to Him!
