Day #1: Santa Not At North Pole
Hello From China!
We chased the moon on our trip here, but never caught it! Officially, we didn't see darkness for 38 hours. We did, however, see the North Pole. The Lord was good enough to part the clouds for a few good peaks (spelling intentional) and I must say, "They ain't much goin' on up there!" (Santa, I'm sure, takes vacation about this time of year. He was probably in Aruba!)
Our Holt escort, Pan, is a delightful young woman. She greeted us with much love but when she found out we were the alleged parents actually coming to complete the rumored adoption of a thirteen year old, she flipped. The word has been spread through the entire adoption world here in China that "someone" was coming to get a teenager. (Anyway, we still took time to study our Holt guide to adoption last night which is sure to help with diaper changing, napping, potty training and bed-wetting.)
No photos yet. We still look the same.
I feel a boldness to share the love of the Lord Jesus here in just acts of kindness. The people are so sweet and look at me funny when I say, "God Bless" which is how I usually say "thank you." I intend to "God Bless" my way lovingly through this massive land.
Today is a day of rest for us. So...off to see the Great Wall, have a traditional Chinese lunch, take a ride in a rickshaw and to find Bob one of those pointy hats! (Yes, I promise photos of that!)
