Day #8: Giggling Through Nanchang

This was our happiest day yet. It began with Lexi and Autumn playing with Mei Hui (see above). I think it helped Autumn to play with her and feed her as I imagine she misses her foster sister very much, but mostly playing with a baby is bound to turn into giggling. And it did!

Autumn really opened up to us today. She was very giggly and really tried to learn English today. (You'll have to see the video footage of English lessons at www.youtube.com/user/bobgresh. You'll love the extra bonus of being introduced to Chinese "split pants.")

Sometimes pictures say it best, so...here is a snapshot into our evening. It began with another Chinese feast filled with lots of teenage girl giggling!

Then, we headed over to a water fountain show—the tallest in all of Asia! Autumn's eyes lit up and she clapped with glee when it began.

We ended the night with a ride on the world's largest (and slowest) ferris wheel. The 525 foot high Star of Nanchang is three years old. It may well claim stakes as the slowest as well. It took us 30 minutes to make it around. We snapped this photo of Autumn with Lisa, our Holt International escort in Nanchang, while we rode it. She has been what you might consider a case worker for Autumn visiting her these past few months and preparing her for the adoption. Autumn loves her very much. (So do we!)

This is my favorite photograph of the day. We told the girls to pose and Autumn turned and kissed Lexi on the cheek. Of course, this was followed up by...you guessed it, more giggling!

We pick up Autumn's Chinese passport tomorrow. (She is still a Chinese citizen even though she is ours.) Then, we have a late afternoon flight to Guangzhou where we will have appointments with the U.S. consulate...and more waiting...and giggling!
