The "Grandma" Miracle

In 2004, I traveled to Zambia for the first time to initiate what would become Pure Freedom Zambia, a ministry that has reached 69,000 public high school and elementary school students with the gospel of Jesus and abstinence training. On that first trip, our family visited a Zambian compound where the poorest of the poor live. We met a grandmother of eleven who was badly injured and at the end of hope. "Grandma" sat under a tree near her 10 foot by 10 foot mud house nursing an infected wound while her eleven grandchildren, orphaned by AIDS, were hungry from her lack of ability to earn and prepare food. We did what we could. We brought her medicine, a month's worth of food and laid hands on her and prayed for her. But it didn't look good.

Two years later, I returned with a team of 29 and was walking through the same compound. "Grandma" recognized me and excitedly approached the team! (Yes! She was still alive and kicking!) She expressed praise to God that he healed her and has provided just enough food every day for her and her grandchildren. She considers every day a miracle!

This week, I'm leading a team of 19 back to Zambia. One of our goals is to rebuild this dear woman's mud house as it is in desperate need of repair and to leave her home stocked with food and blankets. Along with this work, we'll hand out 1000 Reach4Life Bibles to share the gospel and spread truth about abstinence, do some work on our pig farm and train a team of 20 new facilitators to continue our work in the schools. And, our Grace Prep students will visit eight schools to share the gospel and their personal journey for purity.

Pray for us March 9-20. If you feel led to support our trip, we are still in need of about $5,000 to cover the costs with just a few days to go.
