Meet Dannah Gresh
“The evangelical chastity movement finds a champion in Dannah Gresh!”
-Publishers Weekly
Dannah Gresh has sold over half a million copies of her books—including And the Bride Wore White and Lies Young Women Believe (co-authored with Nancy Leigh DeMoss) —,making her one of the most successful Christian authors targeting teens and tweens. She has long been at the forefront of the movement to encourage tweens and teens to be modest in their dress and to avoid premarital sex, a message now seen on TV shows such as The Secret Life of the American Teenager and in the popularity of teen celibacy vows and Father/Daughter purity balls.
National Expert in Abstinence and Modesty
“Everyone has the right to promote their position. It seems contradictory to say you’re open minded by handing these girls condoms and not giving me the right to encourage them not to reach for them!”
-Dannah quoted in Chicago Tribune, January 2008
A frequent guest for national radio, TV and print mediums, Dannah is called upon to defend the conservative position of abstinence in national newspapers and magazines like the Chicago Tribune, TIME and Women’s Wear Daily. Her conversational and edgy interview style generates tremendous listener response on radio and television! FamilyLife Today, Midday Connection and Focus on the Family have included their interviews with Dannah in “best of” annual showcases. Dannah has also been a featured contributor to many national magazines.
HIV/AIDS and Orphan Activist
In 2004, she was invited to write an abstinence curriculum for the government schools of Zambia, one of the world’s most AIDS-ravaged nations. Over 75,000 students have been through the curriculum. It was her work in Africa that led her to become a voice for the needs of orphaned children in third-world and developing nations. This is where her heart was initially open to adoption and eventually led her and her husband to adopt. Dannah is a spokesperson for Holt International, a trusted leader in international adoption.
PERSONAL
Dannah lives in State College, Pennsylvania, with her husband, Bob, and their children, Robby, Lexi and Autumn whom the family adopted from China in 2007. She and her husband founded Grace Prep, a new model in Christian high school education, which Bob administrates. She is shamelessly in love with her labradoodle, Stormie!
